Cheshire residents will go to the polls today for the local council elections.
This is the first day of polling in the UK where valid identification is required to take part.
Labour currently holds the most seats in Cheshire West and Cheshire Council, while the conservatives hold the most seats for the East Cheshire Council.
Polls will be open from 7am until 10pm across the country.
